Tokens from Germany
Deposit for drinking container - Plus
2003-2004
20 mm.
PLUS / 0.25
Since January 1, 2003, new rules have been introduced in Germany: when buying
any drinks in cans or plastic bottles, all stores charge an additional 25 cents
on top of the price and issue a pfand. Empty containers can be taken back
together with the pfand, and the store returns the 25 cents, taking the empty
container and the pfand. The pfands were different in all stores, in the PLUS
store ("Primary Leben Und Sparen" - "Live Well and Save") - in the form of metal
tokens. On January 1, 2004, a common pfand was introduced for all stores.
